The alien invasion is still heading to consoles, but resistance groups will have to wait a bit before making their retaliatory strike.
During its Q! 2017 earnings call, Take-Two announced the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions of XCOM 2 need a few more weeks before they are ready for primetime. Originally slated to release September 6, the game is now expected to launch on September 27.

Our Take
Delays are always a bummer, but we'd rather a developer take the extra time to make sure the game is running well than rush it out the door.
