Sony Cancels Powers PlayStation Network Series
Sony has canceled PSN original show Powers after two seasons according to a tweet by creator Brian Michael Bendis.
Bendis, who created the original comic book series back in 2000 with artist Michael Avon Oeming, tweeted out the following yesterday:
this is hard to tweet, but word is that @POWERStheSERIES is sadly, no more. season 2 was the last. at least for now. 1/2

Powers premiered last year and was to be the first thrust in original PSN TV content, but where it leaves Sony in that endeavor is now unknown. We reached out to Sony for comment on the situation and will update this story if we get any additional information.

Our Take
I haven't seen Powers, so this isn't a comment on the show directly, but I have to imagine that in these days of the likes of Netflix and HBO creating great original content, it's probably just not worth the money for Sony to try compete in this space. Microsoft came to perhaps a similar conclusion some time ago.
