Indigo Prophecy Is Finally Arriving As A PS2-On-PS4 Game Next Week

by Mike Futter on Aug 04, 2016 at 04:57 AM

Quantic Dream’s Indigo Prophecy (called Fahrenheit in other territories) was something completely different in an era defined by first-person shooters and character platforms. The game opens with your character having unknowingly committed a grisly murder and just gets wilder from there.

On August 9 (a few weeks later than originally anticipated), the PlayStation 2 title is getting polished up for PlayStation 4. This time out, you’ll be able to earn trophies while you experience the push and pull of running from the law while also stepping into the shoes of a detective investigating the crime.

The resulting gameplay leaves you with tough decisions, as decisions made as one character create opportunities or distractions for the other. If you missed it in 2005, you’ll get your chance to explore New York’s harsh winter on next week.

Our Take
Indigo Prophecy has an odd finish, but it grabbed me more than Heavy Rain. The interaction of the two characters, especially early when they have motives in direct opposition, is absolutely fascinating. It also makes for interesting replay opportunities just to see how some scenes play out with slightly imperfect decision making.
