Battle.net, which powers the online components of Blizzard games like Diablo III and Overwatch, is currently reacting to a DDoS attack.
Heads up, heroes: We are currently monitoring a DDOS attack against network providers which is affecting latency/connections to our games.

Blizzard offered the above tweet to let its "heroes" know it is working on a fix, and also have a crawl citing the attack on its Battle.net launcher, which you can see a screengrab of above. Earlier today, Blizzard announced a number of Olympics-related festivities within Overwatch. You can read about them here.

Our Take
Rumors are pointing the DDoS attack being a result of spurned Overwatch cheaters lashing out. It's especially frustrating considering Blizzard has always been clear about what will happen to Overwaatch cheaters since before the game even released. DDoS attacks are annoying. I wish the people who enacted them would stop doing that.
