Collectible Tactical Game Pox Nora Coming To PS4, Vita

by Mike Futter on Jul 26, 2016 at 10:00 AM

Pox Nora, a free-to-play, collectible, turn-based strategy game has been running for nearly a decade. It’s changed hands three times, but it has survived and thrived. Now it’s coming to console.

Desert Owl Games is bringing Pox Nora to PlayStation 4 and Vita later this year. When it arrives, it will include all 29 expansions and more than 1,600 runes (cards).

Players build a deck of 30 runes, which include units, equipment, and spells. Battle takes place on maps featuring different terrain and obstacles, and players call their runes into the fight as troops on the battlefield.

The newest expansion, Planar Disturbances, will be out tomorrow. It brings 49 new runes, of which 32 are “champions” (unit cards).

Pox Nora will be out for PlayStation 4 and Vita in the last quarter of the calendar year. If you want to play on PC now, you can sign up on the official website.

Our Take
I dabbled with Pox Nora a long time ago, before I had come to grips with in-game transactions for intangible goods. I enjoyed what I played, but couldn’t get my head around the free-to-play concept at the time. I’m eager to revisit it so many years later and see how it stacks up against today’s games.
