Amiibo Support Coming To Animal Crossing: New Leaf Along With New Content

by Haley MacLean on Jul 20, 2016 at 07:11 AM

Animal Crossing is reportedly getting an update this November in Japan with new content and amiibo support on 3DS.

Although titles such as Animal Crossing Amiibo Festival and Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer provided players with some Animal Crossing amiibo opportunities, now the use of figures and cards will be available within New Leaf, which was first released in the US in 2013. It seems scanning cards will allow characters to come to your village, and previous Animal Crossing figures are compatible but it's not yet known what features they will access in-game.

On Animal Crossing's Japanese website, an amiibo crossover is revealed and it looks like the Squid Sisters from Splatoon, Marie and Callie, will be able to come visit your village. In 2015, Splatoon themed neon-colored decor and costumes were made available in New Leaf via codes. Other past collaborations for in-game materials include items and skins from Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker and Super Mario 3D World.

This update has only be announced for Japan in November, but hopefully you will be able to take some of those Animal Crossing amiibos off your shelf and put them to work in New Leaf when it comes to the rest of the world as well.
