Microsoft has announced that the 2TB launch edition Xbox One S – the 40 percent smaller system – is coming this fall.

The Xbox One S is out on August 2 in select territories (see below), and is priced at $399. The smaller versions (1TB and 500GB) do not have a release date yet, but will come out in 2016, according to Microsoft. Those systems run $349 and $299, respectively.

The company says the launch edition is out in "limited quantities," but no exact numbers are specified.

The system comes with the new Xbox One S controller, which is also available on its own for $59.99 on the day.

The initial wave of countries for the system are: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, UK and United States.

For more info on the system, here's a full rundown.

Our Take
I wonder which smaller system will sell more this holiday season, the Xbox One S or Nintendo's mini NES.
