FIFA 16 Chem Glitch Patch Released

by Matthew Kato on Jul 13, 2016 at 04:50 AM

EA Sports and FIFA developer EA Canada have released a patch ostensibly addressing FIFA 16's Ultimate Team chemistry glitch.

A few weeks ago it was discovered that chemistry style boosts were inconsistently applied to Ultimate Team mode cards issue when the game was released versus those that were issued by EA post-launch. A fitness glitch for day-one cards and non-day-one cards was also discovered.

EA was quickly made aware of the situation and announced it would fix the problem.

The Ultimate Team mode in multiple EA Sports products is a big revenue generator for the company, and the glitches' breaking of the product – the post-launch cards that EA issued and which people may have paid real money for were not working as advertised – would have a been a big blow to the integrity of Ultimate Team.

The patch is out now for the game's platforms, although at the time of this writing EA says that the Xbox 360 update is coming at a later, unspecified, time.

Our Take
And now we wait. I imagine it won't be long before someone puts the patch to the test, and hopefully it passes.
