Reader Discussion: Has Pokémon Go Affected Your Interest In Pokémon Sun And Moon?

by Jeff Marchiafava on Jul 11, 2016 at 01:27 PM

Pokémon Go is taking the world by storm right now, bringing together young, old, and new players alike to catch Nintendo's iconic pocket monsters. But has hunting down Pokémon in the real world affected your interest in the next traditional installment of the series?

As we discussed in today's special edition podcast, the G.I. staff is currently infatuated with Pokémon Go. While we're all in agreement about the mobile title's entertainment value (well, those of us who like fun, anyway), we're split on its potential impact to Nintendo's main series. Some in the office, like Reiner, feel Niantic's real-world shenanigans could leave players wondering why they need to go out and buy another entry in the series when they can catch Pokémon to their heart's content on their phone for free. Others, like hopeless Pokémon fanatic Kyle Hilliard, are now even more excited for Sun and Moon's traditional turn-based battles and RPG progression.

What about you? Has Pokémon Go made you less interested in Sun and Moon, or only stoked your interest further? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
