No Man's Sky has gone gold, which means the version that will be printed on discs (or downloaded) is complete and we shouldn't expect any additional surprise delays.

The team at Hello Games celebrated going gold by opening their mouths as wide as they could (some are better at it than others) and snapping a photo.

No Man's Sky was delayed by seven weeks back in May, (which resulted in death threats directed toward the happy bearded man you see holding the disc above), but now that the game is officially gold, it seems like it should be able to hit its August 9 release date without issue.

Development is not complete, as the game will likely require assorted patches and maintenance after going online, but this is a huge step toward getting the game into players' hands.

Our Take
Despite it being just a photograph, Hello Games' excitement is infectious. I honestly don't know if I will enjoy No Man's Sky, but I am excited to see what it's all about when it finally releases next month.
