Xbox Live Adding New Clubs, Tournament Features, And More

by Brian Shea on Jun 13, 2016 at 07:19 AM

Xbox's MIke Ybarra announced that three highly requested features are coming to Xbox Live this fall. The common theme with the new additions is that they are meant to make it easier to find like-minded gamers.

The first new feature is Clubs on Xbox One. With Clubs, players can form communal groups to find gamers with common interests. For example, players who like Forza games, players who are passionate about building creations in Minecraft, or people who play The Division in a specific region.

Looking For Group is essentially a want ad over Xbox Live as you are able to put out a message to find players with common goals. This helps players who don't have friends that are playing the same game to find a group of players without needing to use built-in matchmaking.

The third and final addition that Ybarra announced was the tournament-focused Arena on Xbox Live. This lets players discover, register, and compete in tournaments. First-party games, as well as third-party titles from publishers like Wargaming and EA Sports.

These new features will be added to Xbox Live with this fall's update.
