Weekend Warrior – Mainly Overwatch

by Blake Hester on May 27, 2016 at 02:00 PM

A lot of us here at the Game Informer office plan to welcome this long Memorial Day weekend by sinking long hours into building couches and some of the season’s biggest games, such as Uncharted 4, Doom, and, of course, Overwatch. Let us know in the comments what you have planned this weekend!

Leo Vader (@leovader) – This weekend I plan on not buying any loot boxes in Overwatch, but we'll see how that goes. I've also been revisiting Just Cause 3 and realizing I may not have given it enough credit at launch. Those somewhat clunky traversal mechanics improve significantly once you get a few upgrades in.

Andy McNamara (@GI_AndyMc) – Overwatch’s grip on me is strong. I still haven’t finished Doom, which will be my priority this weekend, but if I know myself I have a feeling I will end up playing a lot of Overwatch with my friends. Otherwise, it is riding my bike (gonna try to ride my first century of the year) and playing with the dog.

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – This weekend, I hope to continue chipping away at Doom’s campaign. I’m loving every minute, but I prefer to play it in short bursts, so when I’m not playing Doom, I’ll be enjoying Overwatch and maybe even a little Lego Marvel Super Heroes or Dishonored Definitive Edition. I also really need to get back into Zelda: Twilight Princess HD at some point.

Haley MacLean (@haleyfaxer) – This weekend I'm torn with attempting to complete Uncharted 4 and just becoming completely enveloped with Overwatch. My best friend back home just got a PlayStation 4 today specifically to play Overwatch, and I can see us spending the majority of the weekend diligently trying out every character. At the same time, I have been playing the entirety of the Uncharted series these past two weeks and I'm dying to know how it ends. Really though, stressing about which two amazing games I have to play is a great problem to have.

Blake Hester - This weekend I’m going to try my best to finish up Doom’s gruesome campaign and enjoy plenty of sweet, sweet cheap beer. And who knows? Maybe I’ll give this Overwatch I keep hearing about a try!

Jeff Cork (@gijeff) – I’ve got the house to myself this weekend, so I’m going to do the smart thing and staying inside and playing games. It’s supposed to rain or something? Does that matter? Anyway, my plan is to get in as much Doom, Uncharted 4, and Overwatch as possible, though there’s a good possibility that I’ll just end up stuck in another Diablo III time tunnel. That freaking game. I need to get around to playing some of the Fallout 4 and Witcher 3 DLC as well. Who knows?

Dan Tack (@dantack) – So here's my plan. Allow me to break it down for you. First, I will load up an exquisite glass with cubed ice (the superior form of cubed ice, the kind with the hole in the middle, not the solid, uncouth raw blocks) and then pour copious amounts of diet ginger beer on top. Then I will slowly sip from this beverage as I break out the grill this season and cook up a legion of brats, burgers, and other delicious meats. I will then proceed to play Overwatch until it is Tuesday morning.

Mike Futter (@Futterish) – This weekend, I’ll be diving into more Overwatch, continuing Doom and Uncharted 4, and playing some tabletop games with friends and family. On the board game list: Star Wars Rebellion, Star Wars Imperial Assault, and Codenames.

Joe Juba (@Joejuba) – I had to put Dark Souls III on hold so I could play Uncharted 4, which I finally finished. So, this weekend I’m hoping to jump back into From Software’s grim world. I also want to spend some time with a few old favorites; I recently picked up Valkyria Chronicles on PS4, and grabbed Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain on Steam, so I may devote even more of my life to those excellent games.

Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM) – I came down with Overwatch fever this week like virtually everyone else in the office, and plan to keep at it this weekend, while hopefully branching out into some of my less-played characters. I’ve also been chipping away at Uncharted 4 for the next episode of our Game Club, so I may continue the adventure this weekend as well.

Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – I'm sure there will still be alot of Overwatch with friends, but this weekend I'm going to put a major dent in Uncharted 4. With our first episode of the GI Game Club out there now, I'm very scared of spoilers. Anyway, have a good weekend!

AJ Moser (@AndMoser) – I plan to spend this beautiful Memorial Day weekend by getting good at an Overwatch character who isn't Bastion. When that doesn't work, I'll pick up The Witcher 3 again to brush up on my monster-slaying before Blood and Wine drops. Other than that, I'm excited to check out X-Men: Apocalypse. I recently caught up on the comic continuity, so I consider myself an X-pert of that series (I'm sorry.)

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – My wife and I started building a couch last weekend, and by golly, we’re going to finish it. Probably. I would also like to beat Uncharted 4, get started on Quantum Break, and play some more Overwatch. I am having a good time taking out Bastions with Genji.

Andrew Reiner (@Andrew_Reiner) – The entire extended weekend is going to Overwat…wait…Kelly’s mom is in town! Noooooooo!!! All jokes aside, I have family fun played for the entire weekend and likely won’t play many games until midnight or later. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t plan on sleeping much to get my hours into Overwatch. The game is ridiculously good. You should all give it a shot.

Elise Favis (@elisefavis) – I'll be wrapping up my playthrough of 1979 Revolution: Black Friday, a neat Telltale-style adventure game about the Iranian Revolution. Beyond that, I'm hoping to pick up Overwatch and jump back into Uncharted 4.

Mattew Kato (@MattKato) – I plan to get a lot further in Uncharted 4, that’s for sure, as well as sampling plenty of Dirt Rally and Pro Evolution Soccer 2016’s Master League franchise mode. I recently downloaded the demo for Football Manager 2016. I’ve previously tried playing 2015, and it was too much for me. Perhaps this time will be different. Finally, I also downloaded Pro Evolution Soccer Club Manager on mobile. Don’t really know anything about it, actually, but it was free and seemed to have some good reviews.
