If you were considering purchasing a 2DS at some point in the next nine days, hold off. Nintendo has just announced a price drop worth waiting for.

The currently price of the handheld, $99.99, is being cut to $79.99. The publisher will be pre-installing Mario Kart 7 on some systems (so it would be nice to check the box to make sure yours comes with the game).

Launched in October 2013, the 2DS is a single-piece, wedge-shaped device. It features the two screens found on the rest of the 3DS family of handhelds, but does not offer the 3D features (hence the name). The price drop goes into effect on May 20.

Our Take
While this might not be the price drop Nintendo fans have been hoping for (see: Wii U), this is a good move for the entry-level device. The 2DS is perfect for kids under the recommended 3D usage age and those who want an extra system for multiplayer games.
