The Division’s Update 1.2 Is All About More, Better Loot

by Mike Futter on May 04, 2016 at 06:22 AM

The Division is going to be more “generous” with its loot drops, according to a live stream broadcast this morning. The team says that the upcoming 1.2 update, which is as yet undated, includes no nerfs and only boosts.

The patch is in the testing phase right now, but when it’s implemented, high-level players will have reason to return to the Dark Zone. Players with 200 gear score or better will be shunted into a new bracket.

There, they’ll find gear scored at 204 to 240. Items that drop will do so more frequently and be of better quality. That also means players will need to surmount tougher onslaught from NPCs.

The rewards will be worth it, though. Any high-end Division tech that drops will be Orange grade or higher, and you’ll see it more frequently.

If you aren’t quite at end-game level yet, you’ll also see more and better gear landing at your feet. Incursions, challenge mode, and hard mode will all deliver more loot.

As for the recent problem of missing daily missions, that is getting under control. Ubisoft says it has identified the problem and a shift to server-side mission lists has already been implemented to resolve the issue.

Our Take
While The Division has suffered some significant problems (especially on PC), Ubisoft appears to be working to fix things. In addition to technical issues, the team has been actively balancing things to reduce the grind and make play more rewarding. All of this is crucial if the publisher wants to hang onto players for the long haul.
