Twitter Reactions To Today's Nintendo News
Nintendo dropped a bombshell of news today, and the gaming community on Twitter reacted to it – some people embraced humor to voice their concerns, others adopted a level-headed approach to calm the storm. I scrolled through hundreds of tweets pertaining to the news and pulled out a selection that I feel encapsulates the reaction people had across the board.
The majority of the thoughts were negative. Wii U fans are angry. People are concerned about Nintendo's future and financial situation. Zelda fans are sick of the delays. A much smaller percentage of people are seeing a silver lining in Nintendo moving on from Wii U. There's also a group of people out there who are just happy Zelda is under a year away.
"Professor, with Nintendo delaying the NX til March 2017, would you say the company is doomed?"

"Yes I would Kent" pic.twitter.com/7KUYpAXfll
Nintendo NX to launch in March 2017. Was hoping for something this year but hey! As long as I get Zelda soon I'll be good. ;)

Nintendo's brand new concept: NX first "green" console, powered entirely by burning company assets.

The funny thing is I am buying so many Nintendo published games this year, not having to spend on a new console yet is sort of a relief.

Nintendo isn't going anywhere.
— Luffy (@DoctorOfFizz) April 27, 2016
People will still by their games, no matter how many times they say they won't or how "dead" it is.
Nintendo is dead. They should just go third party. Doubt their fans would care about the NX now

Nintendo is trying to boost Wii U sales in 2016 by copying the successful strategy we used in 2015: not releasing any first party exclusives
— CEO Kaz Hirai (@KazHiraiCEO) April 27, 2016
nintendo: for e3 2018 our strategy is to host a booth on the roof and pass out bubble wands
— Eric Bailey (@Nintendo_Legend) April 27, 2016
gamers: this is an improvement yes
I wonder how many people will see "Wii U" trending on Twitter and learn today that Nintendo made a console after Wii
— Jason Schreier (@jasonschreier) April 27, 2016
Whoa whoa whoa. Nintendo is launching a console in March of next year but it won’t even be announced by E3? yeahbuhwhu?
— Mikey Neumann (@mikeyface) April 27, 2016
I don't know much about the NX or a new Zelda release date. But, what I do know is that the new StarFox has THE WORST controls ever. EVER.
— Jesse Cox (@JesseCox) April 27, 2016
Can't wait til Nintendo replaces cool "NX" codename with something goofy like "SquirrelButt" and everyone complains.

GOODBYE ZELDA WII U pic.twitter.com/etKVw1fUyw

I waited almost wii u's entire life span for Zelda wii u to come out before buying it and now it's gonna be on the NX

Drinking game: Every time Zelda Wii U gets delayed, take a shot.
— Anthony Coloma (@AnthonyC0l0ma) April 27, 2016
Ouya will probably have more games at E3 than the entire Nintendo lineup

Nintendo NX in less than a year? I got the Wii U when it launched, which seems like only yesterday.
— Jeff Spaulding (@jjbunks) April 27, 2016
Ugh. I'm so angry about Zelda Wii U being the only thing at E3. Huh...what's this? AWESOME pic.twitter.com/tv8xfsvtYH

Nintendo CEO says that Nintendo NX won't "Simply" replace 3DS and Wii U.
— ZhugeEX (@ZhugeEX) April 27, 2016
Except it will because Wii U is dead and 3DS is dying.
"How do you want to announce the launch for our next generation console?"
— The Hashtagonist (@TheHashtag0nist) April 27, 2016
"Just tweet it or something"
- Nintendo
Well looks like I'm going to have to buy a Nintendo NX year

With Zelda Wii U finally coming to NX, I can finally sell my Wii U with no regrets. (Hey, that rhymes!) #Nintendo #Zelda #WiiU #NintendoNX

Anyone who's still saying "Nintendo is dead" or "Nintendo is doomed" I'm just gonna point and laugh.
— Stefan Bonomo (@gamesEnlisted) April 27, 2016
On the bright side: I said this before but people at Nintendo told me they're very confident in their NX software lineup for Year 1.
— Emily Rogers (@ArcadeGirl64) April 27, 2016
Zelda Wii U/NX delayed until March 2017 just like Mass Effect: Andromeda is rumored to be as well? pic.twitter.com/HSpA3YsaRa
— Nick Bennett (@nickpbennett) April 27, 2016
I think Nintendo is making a mistake only showing Zelda at E3. It’s dangerous to go alone!
— CEO Kaz Hirai (@KazHiraiCEO) April 27, 2016
