Nintendo Delays Zelda To 2017 For A Simultaneous Wii U and Nintendo NX Launch
A late night tweet from Nintendo confirms the next console Zelda will release on both Wii U and Nintendo NX simultaneously next year and offered some new art for the game.

The tweet above also states that the new Zelda will be the focus of Nintendo's E3 2016 presence, and followed a prior tweet that gave the Nintendo NX a March 2017 launch window.

It's unclear if that means we can expect a March 2017 release date for the game. We know NX will release in March 2017, and we know Zelda will be available on both consoles at the same time. You can check out the full piece of new art below.

Our Take
A simultaneous launch for Wii U and Nintendo NX was something many have been assuming would come to pass for the next Zelda. Nintendo pulled a similar move with Twilight Princess on Wii and GameCube, and that game also experienced multiple delays in order to coordinate that release.
