by Matt Miller on Apr 21, 2016 at 07:42 AM

In the midst of domestic video game news, Square Enix brought a brief release today, alerting us to its contribution of 50 million yen (around $460,000 in US dollars) to the relief effort for those affected by the devastating earthquakes in Kumamoto, Japan.

The series of earthquakes, which culminated in a magnitude 7.0 quake on April 16, have left dozens dead, thousands injured, and tens of thousands evacuated from their homes.

If you’re interested in contributing to relief efforts, you can learn more through the Japanese Red Cross Society.

Our Take
Our hearts go out to the victims of this natural disaster. Obviously, the devastating toll in lives and residences lost hits close to home for the Japan-based publishing team at Square Enix.
