Metroid Prime: Federation Force Gets A Release Date
Nintendo's cooperative shooter, Metroid Prime: Federation Force, has an official release date. In a press release, Nintendo announced the game launches on August 19.
Federation Force has seen its share of criticism since it was announced at E3 2015. Fans have been pining for a new mainline entry in the franchise, and a cooperative shooter isn't exactly what they expected, not to mention wanted.
Since then, Nintendo has listened to criticisms and tried to sway skeptics to give it a chance. In a few months time, we'll be able to see the final verdict on this different Metroid entity.
Our Take
Putting a game out that people have been skeptical about in a dry month of video game releases is a smart business decision. Nintendo has remained confident in its choice to create and release Metroid Prime: Federation Force, but I think we're all still anxiously waiting to see how this shakes out and if the game is worthwhile. Trying new things and expanding upon a series isn't a bad thing, but Metroid was not the best franchise to test this out with due to its history and rightfully frustrated fans.
