Weekend Warrior – "Gitting Gud" At Losing In Dark Souls III
The staff juggles a variety of games this weekend, and the daunting release of Dark Souls III is looming over the entire office. We plan to tie up loose ends on previous playthroughs, hop back into some multiplayer matches, and try to keep our anger in check while playing From Software's latest. What are you diving into this weekend?
Jeff Cork (@gijeff) – This weekend, I’ll probably ping-pong between playing Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 and Dark Souls III. I haven’t started playing the latest Dark Souls, and I’ll inevitably rage quit a few times as I try to figure it out. That’s when I’ll try my hand at blasting plants and zombies – and probably rage quit a few times there, too. Seriously, I think some of the people who play that don’t do anything else with their time!
Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – I’m feeling better, but I am still not back to 100 percent. Plus my wife seems to be adopting some of my symptoms, so it looks like it will be another sick weekend in the Hilliard household. Otherwise, I might try to go see Jungle Book after all the excellent reviews and play more Dark Souls III. We’ve been Chronicling the hell out of it, but I am enjoying taking my own playthrough at a slower pace.
Luke Walaszek (@urzashottub) – I started playing Splatoon again and I'm really enjoying how quick the matches play out now, so I'll probably dive into that a bit more this weekend. I've also been playing a lot of Hearthstone to get ready for Whispers of the Old Gods, which is shaping up to be an interesting set. Finals are starting to wrap up so I don't really have time for big story-based games, so it's nice to go back to these bite-sized multiplayer games to satiate my gaming needs for an hour or so a day.
Jenifer Vinson (@JenMarie_Vinson) – I’m going to a convention. Anime Detour. Maybe I’ll tweet some pictures of cosplay and stuff!
Jeff Marchiafava (@GIJeffM) – This week I plan to jump into Dark Souls III. More people in the office are talking about this installment than most of From Software’s games, so it’s time to get back onto the big demonic horse-beast thing. When I’m not “gitting gud,” I may also pick up one of the two big shooter MMOs – I have started Destiny and The Division, but have neglected them both as of late, so maybe it’s time to give one of them another shot.
Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – This weekend I hope to continue my playthroughs of Quantum Break, Ratchet & Clank, and XCOM, but I’ll probably just end up playing more MLB The Show 16.
Joe Buchholz (@JoeyFatoney) – In the past two days I've logged 12 hours into Dark Souls III with my puppy sleeping under my chair, and this trend will probably continue. It's actually a really good way to keep my frustration at bay, because I don't want to wake my dog up by punching the desk after losing all my souls.
Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – This weekend I'm hoping to finally find a juicy game to play. I've been in a scattered, lost world since wrapping up my time with Stardew Valley. I'm on the very last level of Superhot, which is still so freaking great. Other than that, I hope to start Ratchet & Clank on PS4. Most likely though, I'll just dabble with Amplitude and the Starcraft 2 DLC.
