Guitar Hero Live Adds Three Songs From The Struts Via New Premium Show
Guitar Hero Live is adding three songs from The Struts, one of the up-and-coming bands on the rock scene. The news comes a month after the glam rock band's U.S. debut, Everybody Wants, released. The premium show, called "Everybody Wants The Struts" lets players strum through three songs off the band's debut album. The set of three songs is joining the game's streaming GHTV mode tomorrow.
The premium show features The Struts' biggest hits to this point, "Could Have Been Me" and "Kiss This," as well as fan-favorite "Put Your Money On Me." Lead singer Luke Spiller sees the band's inclusion in the Guitar Hero library as an honor.
"Remembering the Guitar Hero with Kansas songs and all that, it was like 10 years ago... It was cool! Me and my mates used to all go around – and one of my friends in my old band was really good at it – we’d sit around, smoke weed, play this game, and we’d have a lot of fun," he tells us. "I guess even back then, it was a big kind of dream and an awful big honor to be on that game. There’s millions of people playing it all across the world. The good thing about games like that is that it’s a real gateway to some tracks. Like “Carry On My Wayward Son.” My friend’s still got that as his ringtone. Once you understand the level of impact you’ll make on some people’s lives, it’s a cool thing to be a part of."
The band recently had the chance to see Guitar Hero Live in action, and they liked the live-action direction of GH Live mode. "I think it’s cool. It’s definitely a step in the right direction," Spiller says. "I’d say it could be a little bit more extreme – like if broken bottles or cups of urine were thrown at you if you didn’t play a single note after a minute. [Laughs] Other than that, it’s a cool thing! That’s what games are about! You don’t want to go too close to reality because it wouldn’t be fun. I think there’s a good balance with the Live option. It’s fun. And that’s what it should be: fun."
