EA Announces New Executive Vice President Of Global Publishing

by Matt Bertz on Mar 24, 2016 at 07:05 AM

Today Electronic Arts CEO Andrew Wilson announced that longtime EA vet Laura Miele is assuming the role of executive vice president of global publishing for the gaming giant.

Miele comes into the position after successfully helping develop the partnership between EA, Disney, and Lucasfilm that landed the publisher the gaming license for Star Wars. The deal has already proven a commercial success for EA, with DICE taking the torch and creating Star Wars Battlefront. The mainstream shooter sold more than 12 million units in 2015. Miele also has a strong background in analytics and marketing.

"In her new role, Laura will align our publishing and worldwide customer experience teams to connect you to more of our games around the world, and support you every step of the way," Wilson wrote in his remarks.

Our Take
Electronic Arts frequently promotes from within, so we're not surprised that Miele got the nod for this new position instead of an outsider. The Star Wars deal is the biggest thing EA has going right now, so it makes sense that a person critical to shaping that partnership landed the role.
