The Witcher 3 Takes Home Top Prize At 16th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards

In a formidable year with several worthy contenders. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt took home the top prize of the GDC Choice awards. Over the course of the back-to-back award shows, Her Story creator Sam Barlow was ultimately the belle of the GDC ball, taking home five awards from the GDC Choice and IGF.

Ori and the Forest also took home multiple awards. Here is the full list of winners:

  • Ambassador Award: Tracy Fullerton, USC
  • Pioneer Award: Markus "Notch" Persson, Mojang
  • Lifetime Achievement Award: Todd Howard, Bethesda Studios
  • Best Technology: The Witcher 3: The Wild Hunt
  • Best Audio: Crypt of the Necrodancer
  • Best Narrative: Her Story
  • Best Visual Art: Ori and the Blind Forest
  • Best Handheld/Mobile Game: Her Story
  • Best Game Design: Rocket League
  • Best Debut: Ori and the Blind Forest
  • Innovation Award: Her Story
  • Audience Award: Life is Strange
  • Game of the Year: The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

Before the Choice Awards, Capybara Games president Nathan Vella took the stage for the third year in a row to hand out the Independent Game Festival awards. Here is the complete list of winners:
