Harmonix Is Finally Launching Amplitude On PlayStation 3 Next Month

by Mike Futter on Mar 11, 2016 at 08:38 AM

Harmonix broke its two month silence with Amplitude backers today to announce that the PlayStation 3 version is finally nearing completion. The game is being submitted to Sony for certification with anticipated release some time in April.

The company also says that it will finally be shipping physical backer rewards at the end of next of month. The final digital reward, an art book, is going out to eligible backers today.

Harmonix originally planned to release the PS3 version alongside the PlayStation 4 edition. When the game was delayed in July 2015, the PS3 version was pegged to come “shortly after.” That was widened to “coming months” when the PS4 edition launched in January.

Our Take
Since Amplitude’s launch on PlayStation 4, Harmonix has started another crowdfunding campaign. This time, it’s for a Rock Band 4 PC port. While companies need to work on multiple projects at a time in order to stay afloat, perhaps delivering everything for its first campaign before going back to the well.
