Homefront: The Revolution Has Big Post-Launch Plans And A Collector's Edition With An RC Car

by Brian Shea on Mar 01, 2016 at 12:40 PM

Homefront: The Revolution may still be a few months off, but Deep Silver is beginning to push players to get excited with the announcement of a long-term post-launch support plan. For those particularly looking forward to the follow-up to the 2011 shooter from THQ and Kaos, Deep Silver has also announced the Goliath Edition, which features a radio-controlled drone car from the game, as well as an artbook, an exclusive steelbook, and the Homefront: The Revolution Expansion Pass, as well as other digital extras.

Homefront: The Revolution developer Dambuster Studios has also revealed the kind of post-release support it is planning. All post-release content for the cooperative Resistance mode will be free. The Resistance mode content, which is scheduled to continue for at least 12 months, will include new missions, challenges, features, and items. The studio will also have a team dedicated to working on single-player content for at least a year following release. All post-release single-player content will be included in the Expansion Pass.

Deep Silver has not yet revealed a price for the Homefront: The Revolution Goliath Edition, but Homefront: The Revolution releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC May 17.

Our Take
It's always good to see a developer want to support its game for a long time, particularly when part of that plan is through free updates. I just hope that doesn't spell an anemic suite of launch offerings as it has for other recent releases. Also, in an industry where over-the-top collector's editions have already peaked and have been on the decline for some time, this is a fun one to look at.
