Take Your Street Fighter V Losses Like An Adult, Or Else

by Mike Futter on Feb 29, 2016 at 01:57 AM

Most of us have been there. We're closing in on a victory. Our opponent is on the ropes, stunned, and waiting for that last hadoken. And then... they're gone.

Disconnecting from a hopeless match (also called "rage quitting") is especially rampant in one-on-one games like sports titles and fighters. Capcom is working to deliver harsh punishments for those that do it in Street Fighter V, though.

Currently, it does not appear there is any penalty for leaving a match before completion. Capcom says it needs your help to identify those guilty of poor sportsmanship so it can dole out "severe" punishment.

"Please record every instance of rage quitting you encounter," the publisher requests. "The best way to do this is to use the SHARE function on the PlayStation 4 after the match has concluded, though any video evidence will suffice (Twitch archives, local recordings etc.)."

Street Fighter V was plagued with early connection woes and has been criticized for a dearth of content. You can read our full review for the complete rundown.

Our Take
Rage quitting in fighting games isn't a new phenomenon. It's a bit surprising that Capcom didn't build a reporting and punishment system into the game from launch. Or it would be if Street Fighter V weren't also missing significant features, including arcade mode.
