There's Going To Be A New Rocky Horror Show Game

by Connor Trinske on Feb 17, 2016 at 11:44 AM

For the first time since 1999, a game based on The Rocky Horror Show is in development. An independent UK studio called Rocket Lolly Games has announced The Rocky Horror Show: Touch Me for tablet and mobile platforms.

The game is described as a touch-based dance rhythm game, like a "tactile Dance Dance Revolution." It will give the experience of being a theater member in the show that went on to become a cultural phenomenon.

The Rocky Horror Show has been a theater performance, a film (titled The Rocky Horror Picture Show), and even a few other games in the past. It is performed in theaters every year, and has inspired cosplay and audience interactivity across the world.

Not much else is known about Touch Me at this point, since it is currently slated for release in 2017. If you want to keep up with the creation of the game, you can visit the official site.

Our Take
The original Rocky Horror Show game first appeared on the Commodore 64 in 1985, and another was later released on PC in 1999. Both were strange attempts at adventure games, but this sounds like this one is more in keeping with the spirit of the show as a rhythm game. It might still be a ways off, but the game could be an interesting experience for fans of the 1973 production.
