Catch An Extended Look At Telltale's The Walking Dead: Michonne Before Its Launch On Feb. 23
Update: As promised, Telltale has delivered a six-minute extended preview of its upcoming miniseries. This is your first chance to hear Orange is the New Black's Samira Wiley as the katana-wielding Michonne.
Original Story (February 10, 2016 @ 9 a.m. Central):
Telltale is about to unleash the zombie horde once more. The three-episode The Walking Dead miniseries focused on sword-wielding Michonne is set to launch later this month.
The first episode, In Too Deep, will kick off on February 23. You won’t need to wait that long to get a look, though.
Telltale will release a five-minute extended preview this Sunday, February 14, on its YouTube channel. That’s right. You can spend part of your Valentine’s Day with the shambling dead. Zombies have hearts, after all, even if they don’t beat.
The remaining episodes, Give No Shelter and What We Deserve, are planned for March and April respectively. The bundle will be sold together for $14.99.
Telltale is tying this adventure directly to the comics. The three-episode arc takes place between issues 126 and 139, during which Michonne is absent.
The developer also noted that it has now sold more than 50 million episodes of its games worldwide. The Walking Dead Michonne will be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC on February 23. Mobile versions will arrive on February 25.
Our Take
Telltale’s formula might be familiar, but it continues to find new ways to pair it with the source material. A deeper connection to The Walking Dead comics, especially with a character as well-liked as Michonne, is a natural evolution for this series.
And I would be remiss if I didn’t mention that I am extremely eager to see what Telltale’s Marvel partnership is going to be. My money is on something connected to Netflix’s series. Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Luke Cage are quite suited for the character-driven drama that Telltale is known for.
