News

Four new games have joined Microsoft’s backward compatible roster. If you were counting on Red Dead Redemption, Halo Wars, or any of the other titles part of this weekend’s snafu though, you’re out of luck.

We know that Alan Wake will eventually be coming, but that’s not available yet either. However, Alan Wake’s American Nightmare (a pre-purchase bonus for Quantum Break) did make the list.

Also available are the original Lego Batman, Sam & Max Beyond Time & Space, and Trials HD. Microsoft will continue to roll out games as they are available, instead of waiting for monthly drops.

We’re still waiting on a few big titles, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, all three BioShock titles, Halo Wars, and Skate 3. Now we also know that Red Dead Redemption, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, and Castlevania: Symphony of the Night are in the works.

Our Take
Microsoft’s biggest challenge right now is multi-disc games. Not only is this a big portion of the Xbox 360’s more recent library, but given the commitment that Games with Gold will be backward compatible, those offerings are limited until this issue is ironed out. Still, I’m glad to see these releases every time they happen.
