Doom Roars To Release In May, Collector’s Edition Announced

by Mike Futter on Feb 04, 2016 at 03:00 AM

Doom is set for its return in just a few months. Bethesda announced today a May release date for the game and a collector’s edition.

The collector’s edition is a partnership with collectible maker TriForce. Included is a 12-inch statue of one of the Doom’s demons, The Revenant.

The statue was created with in-game reference files and sits on an base lit by LEDs. The turbine upon which the monster stands has an internal, slow-spinning mechanism. The game itself comes in a steelbook case exclusive to this edition. The upgraded version is priced at $119.99.

Anyone that pre-orders the collector’s edition or the standard version will also get a bundle if in-game items. The Demon Multiplayer Pack includes a set of demon armor with three different skin variants, six metallic paint colors, three id emblems, and six consumable hack modules.

Our Take
As with all collector's editions, your mileage is going to vary based on what's included. Instead of a number of little items, Bethesda opted for one bigger piece and teamed with the well-regarded TriForce to design and fabricate it. If Doom's been your thing since the beginning, this is an attractive piece for the shelf.
