Iron Maiden RPG Running Free On Mobile Devices This Summer

by Brian Shea on Jan 18, 2016 at 01:28 PM

A free-to-play RPG based in the "expansive Iron Maiden universe" will be coming to mobile devices. Iron Maiden: Legacy of the Beast is under development by Roadhouse Interactive, the team behind mobile games like Warhammer 40,000: Carnage and Bike Unchained, and 50cc Games, with collaboration from the band itself.

The game follows Eddie, the mummy mascot that has appeared on Iron Maiden's album covers for more than 30 years, as he travels through time to regain pieces of his shattered soul. Over the course of the adventure, Eddie takes on many forms, each with unique abilities. Along the way, players will encounter a broad cast of characters and experience an adventure inspired by the musical history of Iron Maiden.

The game features several songs spanning Iron Maiden's career, including previously unreleased live recordings. According to Roadhouse Interactive's website, the development team was granted unparalleled access to Iron Maiden's vault in order to ensure that the experience is as authentic as possible.

Our Take
"Free-to-play mobile RPG" is hardly a phrase that gets me excited, but as a huge fan of Iron Maiden, I'm really interested to see how this plays out. If nothing else, I'll get to hear some new live recordings from the band.
