Learn How Video Game Stories Are Told Thanks To Skylanders Superchargers

by Mike Futter on Jan 11, 2016 at 10:49 AM

One of gaming's greatest achievements is weaving traditional storytelling with interactive elements. Over the decades, narrative designers, artists, and those responsible for crafting the gameplay have learned how to work in concert to bring compelling tales to life.

Regardless of what you feel about toys-to-life games, the teams working on Skylanders have created an enjoyable cast of playable characters with a charismatic supporting cast. Each year, villain Kaos concocts a new scheme and player-controlled Skylanders (along with Flynn, Hugo, and others) are there to stop him.

In the video below, you can see how Vicarious Visions put the pieces of 2015's Skylanders Superchargers together. The clip includes storyboards, basic animatics, and final production so you can see the key pieces of the evolution.
