Two Similar Game Names Confused Sony, And The Wrong One Was Added To PlayStation Plus

by Mike Futter on Jan 08, 2016 at 02:35 AM

In an age when gamers get confused between Warface, Warframe, and Warfighter (both regular and Advanced flavors), it’s not surprising for there to be confusion over naming. What isn’t terribly common is a platform holder giving away the wrong game for that reason.

That’s just what happened when Sony announced and kicked off this month’s PlayStation Plus games. The company thought it was supposed to give away a PSP game called Legends of War: Patton’s Campaign.

It was available for free for a hot minute before the proper game, History Legends of War: Patton, replaced it. The correct title is a Vita game, also featuring the famed World War II general.

If you happened to download the PSP game when it was available for free by accident, it appears you get to hang onto it. For everyone else, you can head over to the PlayStation Store and grab this month’s games.

Our Take
If anything, this is a call for developers and publishers to be more creative with their naming. If we can’t remember which game is yours, you’ve already dug yourself a hole from which you’ll be spending marketing dollars to climb out.
