Scalebound Delayed, Takes Wing To 2017

by Mike Futter on Jan 04, 2016 at 02:14 AM

Microsoft has already lost a major exclusive for 2016. Platinum’s Scalebound is no longer bound for release this year.

The title was showcased at Microsoft’s Gamescom press conference, where we saw gameplay for the first time. Unfortunately, Platinum is going to need more time to put it in your hands.

“Development on the game is going well and we’re really happy with how it’s coming together,” the studio writes. “Scalebound is one of the biggest games PlatinumGames has ever created: an epic adventure filled with exploration and fantasy gameplay, inventive multiplayer, and action-packed battles on an unbelievable scale – all set in a beautiful and evolving world. It’s the game our team has always dreamed of making.”

Platinum has its hands full with Star Fox Zero, Nier Automata, and reportedly a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game for Activision

Our Take
If you’re going to need more time and your game is part of a first-party lineup, you’re better off sounding the alarm early. Fable Legends and Crackdown should be along in 2016. We might even see the new Gears of War this year.
