Holiday Warrior – Video Games Take Over Christmas

by Ben Reeves on Dec 24, 2015 at 01:00 PM

Christmas time is here, and so is whatever other holiday you might be celebrating. We're spending the break catching up on games and watching some of our favorite films. What are you doing before the end of the year?

Ben Hanson (@yozetty) – Man, the big holiday break has arrived! I'm sure there will be plenty of time for Destiny and Rocket League and the like, but I'm hoping to squeeze in some retro games as well. The debate is between KOTOR 2 and Final Fantasy VII…please help me, comments section.

Javy Gwaltney (@HurdyIV) – I'll be home with my folks in the land where it never snows, finishing up Steamworld Heist and taking another stab at Virtue's Last Reward. I might also fit in some time for Chrono Trigger while deftly avoiding my relatives' offers of eggnogg.

Kyle Hilliard (@KyleMHilliard) – The mother and father-in-law are visiting, but otherwise it will be a fairly straightforward break. I won't have to work during it for the first time since I started at Game Informer in 2011. I plan on sleeping in as much as possible, playing Just Cause 3, watching old Star Wars movies, seeing new Star Wars movies, assembling my daughter's new toys, and maybe finding some time to see The Hateful Eight. I might throw in some Halo 5 multiplayer, too.

Matt Kato (@MattKato) – I need to get back to Fallout 4 some more, which I definitely plan to do. Also thinking of checking out SOMA, which everyone seems to like. I haven't played Battlefront in a little while, and with all this Star Wars going around, I might have to dive back in for some mindless fun and sound effects.

Brian Shea (@BrianPShea) – I'm at home with my family, but during downtime, I'm playing Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront, and Black Ops III. I also have my Vita with me, so I'm playing a lot of Spelunky and Binding of Isaac too.

Jenifer Vinson (@JenMarie_Vinson) – Fallout 4, Life is Strange ep 1, and the original Uncharted (just got a PS4!)

Mike Futter (@Futterish) –  This time of year is when I play catch-up and dabble in the things that have been lingering on my to-play list. I’ll certainly be playing more Fallout 4 and continuing my co-op Divinity: Original Sin playthrough. I also want to play some of the action-RPGs I’ve missed through the years (Torchlight, The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, and others). I’m also carving out time for board games. Star Wars: Imperial Assault and Ghostbusters need some attention.  Whatever it is that you decide to do with your holiday, I hope it’s fun and relaxing. See you in 2016!
