Mortal Kombat X Will Add Alien Xenomorph, Texas Chainsaw Massacre Leatherface

by Tim Turi on Dec 03, 2015 at 12:05 PM

What does a power-tool-wielding maniac, an unsympathetic extraterrestrial killer, a robot hybrid, and a drunken monk have in common? They're all coming to Mortal Kombat X next year.

Today a trailer leaked online showing of Mortal Kombat X's second Kombat Pack of DLC, presumably destined to be revealed at this evening's The Game Awards show. The trailer shows off Leatherface from Texas Chainsaw Massacre entering the fray and delivering a blur of whirling metal teeth to Ermac's gut. Baraka is also impregnated with a xenomorph parasite from the Alien series, which bursts from his chest sporting a pair of twin armblades, a clever nod to the species' ability to optimize the deadliest features of its host's DNA.

Other characters from the Mortal Kombat universe also return, like Bo' Rai Cho with his alcoholic fighting ways and Tri-Borg, who borrows elements from Sektor, Cyrax, and Smoke. Quick-thinking YouTuber iantothemaxx snagged the trailer before Warner Bros. pulled it down. Check it out below.

Kombat Pack 2 is due out next year at an unspecified time.

Our Take
As a tremendous fan of horror films, I'm thrilled about the new match ups the Kombat Pack 2 will enable given the previously released licensed characters. I'm not sure if I'm more excited to see a legit Alien vs. Predator or Leatherface vs. Jason match play out Mortal Kombat style. Netherrealm is just a few logical steps away from creating the horror movie-themed fighting game we've all been dreaming of. Fingers crossed.
