Report: Platinum-Developed Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Game Coming

by Mike Futter on Nov 30, 2015 at 01:17 PM

The Australian Classification group has listed a new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles game is lurking in the shadows. Perhaps Platinum, who is listed as the developer, can give it a better go than Red Fly did in 2013.

While we have reached out to Activision and are awaiting comment, the pieces in place here give this a measure of credibility. Platinum has now worked with Activision twice in the past two years (The Legend of Korra and Transformers: Devastation). Activision also holds the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles license, most recently releasing Out of the Shadows in 2014 to critical panning (we gave it a 2 out of 10).

The Australian Classification group is typically reliable, but until there’s confirmation from Activision, don’t call it a done deal quite yet. And if it does end up being real? Let’s hope the team that worked on Transformers: Devastation is at the helm.

Our Take
Platinum’s got its hands full with Scalebound, Nier: Automata, Star Fox Zero, and now, possibly Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. You’re going to need to “block” out some time for these games.

I'm leaning toward this one being legit, but as with most things that emerge first on ratings classification sites, the information might not be entirely accurate. If we're very lucky, it will follow in Transformers: Devastation's footsteps and be a throwback to the original cartoon.
