Valkyria Chronicles Lives On With New Entry And Remaster

by Mike Futter on Nov 17, 2015 at 02:22 AM

When 2008’s Valkyria Chronicles arrived on Steam last year, fans of the strategy series found new hope that it would live on. After making a splash on PlayStation 3 with the initial outing, the franchise moved to PSP for its second and third entries. The most recent didn’t even make it to Western audiences.

Hope has again been rekindled, as Famitsu shares that a fourth entry and a remaster of the original will be coming to PlayStation 4. These are only confirmed for Japan at this point.

If publisher Sega decides to bring these to a global audience though, there is a chance that it may finally localize Valkyria Chronicles III. Kotaku has translated information that points to the new entry being a direct continuation of the story from the last entry.

The issue of Famitsu containing full details will be released on Thursday, November 19. We’ll update as we learn more.

Our Take
Valkyria Chronicles has a faithful audience in the West that continues to lament the decisions that moved the series off a home console. Despite the almost five years since the third entry’s release on PSP, I have no doubt that were it localized for Vita, PS4, or PC, it would find a willing and grateful audience.
