Microsoft Releases Updated Template For Creating Your Own Xbox One Backgrounds

by Jeff Cork on Nov 16, 2015 at 05:23 AM

Last week, the Xbox One's fall update went live in wide release. The update included a host of new features, most notably backward compatibility with selected Xbox 360 games. Now that the download is out, players who have been using custom art for their Xbox One backgrounds can do a little updating of their own.

Major Nelson has posted an updated background-art template that's built around the new system UI. Things have been reshuffled around a bit, so art that worked well before may need to be retuned.

If you aren't sure how to use your own art, be sure to check out the how-to on Microsoft's page. And if you like the idea of spicing things up but aren't feeling particularly creative, Major Nelson has linked to the subreddit, which is filled with background art that you can download.

Our Take
I typically stick with stock, but it's cool that Microsoft if giving players tools to make life easier.
