Splatoon Gets Title Update With Winter Gear, New Maps

by Brian Shea on Nov 12, 2015 at 10:11 AM

Splatoon has become known for its free updates and during today's Nintendo Direct, we got a glimpse at the next wave of content for the frantic multiplayer shooter. In addition to adding in some new weapons and winter-themed gear, two new maps will be worked into the rotation.

The first new map is Museum D'Alfonsino, which features five unique obstacles that can be used to your advantage if you know how. The second map is Mahi Mahi Resort, a water-heavy map that can easily spell disaster for your Inkling if you fall in. During the final moments of the match, the water level lowers, revealing all new areas to spray your ink on and completely changing the dynamic of a match in the final moments.

The update with the weapons and winter items hits today at 5 p.m. Pacific, while Museum D'Alfonsino will begin working into the map playlists tomorrow at 6 p.m. Pacific. Nintendo also announced that it will continue to support Splatoon through free updates such as this one through January 2016.
