Destiny Companion Update Gives Intuitive Gear Manager To All

by Mike Futter on Nov 12, 2015 at 01:54 AM

When Destiny launched, the companion was an underwhelming addition that was used mostly for reading grimoire cards. Along the way, Bungie made it an essential tool by giving players the ability to change equipment without a tedious run to the Tower.

Today, the web version of the companion gets even more intuitive. A beta for the new Gear Manager is available to all players. This allows users to drag and drop equipment, search for specific gear and perks in their inventories (or on other characters), and maximize light rating at the touch of a button.

Using the maximize light feature pulls from every piece of gear you own, across all characters. If you’re simply looking to kit out with your most powerful weapons and armor, you can do in shorter time.

You can visit Bungie’s website and click on the “My Legend” tab to access your character. From there, click the “Manage Gear (Beta) button below the 3D model of your guardian.

Our Take
If this makes its way to the mobile companion app (even if it’s just the “maximize light” button), it’s another major step forward for usability. Being able to search for perks and specific weapons will make kitting out for different activities much easier.
