Virtual Reality goes mass market in just 10 days. Oculus and Samsung have announced that the smartphone-driven Gear VR is now available for pre-order with a ship date of November 20.

The retail version of the Gear VR improves on the most recent Innovator Edition in a number of ways. It’s 19 percent lighter, features a redesigned touchpad, and is compatible with a wider range of phones.

You can use the Galaxy Note 5, Galaxy S6 edge+, S6, and S6 edge. A number of games have arrived on the Oculus store today for all models. These include Ustwo’s Land’s End, Climax’s Bandit Six: Salvo, and CCP’s Gunjack. The Oculus Arcade, which features more than 20 coin-op classics, is also available for download.

You can pre-order the Gear VR at Best Buy, Amazon, and Samsung’s websites.

Our Take
The Gear VR is an attractive entry point for those that already have a compatible smartphone. The experience isn’t as good as the Rift or other head-mounted displays designed for home use as it doesn’t have positional tracking. However, it is extremely affordable for those that are already in position of a compatible device.
