Update: Fallout 4 is now the king of the hill. It isn't because more users have signed on, though. Instead, Counter-Strike's concurrent usership has dipped, putting Fallout in the lead.

Note that Fallout still has ground to make up to top daily concurrency records. Still, this is a feat worth recognizing.

Original Story:

Take a look at the Steam concurrent and daily users stats on any given day, and the top two spots are owned by Valve. That is, unless that day is today and you look right now.

While Counter-Strike Global Offensive still has more players engaged in combat right now, Fallout 4 has knocked Dota 2 out of the second place position. That’s not guaranteed to last long, though.

Fallout 4 has topped out at the current concurrency level of 445,546 players. Dota 2 has already peaked once today at 320,000 more than that.

It’s only a matter of time before Valve’s MOBA is back in the top two, but for now, Bethesda has reason to celebrate. Getting to the number three spot is an achievement. Scrambling just a little higher up that hill toward the summit is a rarity.

Our Take
Only 23,000 more players, and Fallout sits on the top of the mountain, if only for a little while. Come on, Vault Dwellers, make some history.
