The Darksiders II Remaster Was Used To Measure Interest For Darksiders III

by Marcus Stewart on Nov 06, 2015 at 05:43 AM

Nordic Games acquired the Darksiders franchise two years ago in the wake of THQ/Vigil's demise with many fans hoping the series would continue under them. A new game as been teased off and on over the years, but a big wig at Nordic has provided the strongest evidence that a third entry could very well be on the way.

In a comment posted on Darksider's II: Deathinitive Edition's Steam forum page. Nordic Games executive producer Reinhard Pollice states that the remaster was used as a measuring stick to gauge interest in hopes of creating a long-awaited third entry:

"Darksiders 2 Deathinitive Edition was just the start. Since we acquired the franchise we were looking for options for doing a DS3. The remaster was just a way to get some spotlight on the franchise again, reactivate the community and have a better starting position for DS3."

That statement lines up with Pollice's previously hinted at a new large-scale Darksider's project.  Darksiders II: Deathinitive Edition released October 27 on PC and current gen consoles.

Our Take
As a Darksiders fan, this is the most promising news for Darksiders III yet. Fingers crossed that this statement actually leads to an official confirmation in the near future.
