Original story:
Bertil Hörberg, creator of the 3DS (and now Wii U) platformer Gunman Clive recently posted an update about a surprising side project.
Hörberg, for fun, decided to bring his game to Game Boy and Game Boy Color – a handheld console that was discontinued in 2003. It's not a port of the full game, but rather a demo port of the first level.
It's getting there... I'll do the final touches this weekend and then release the rom pic.twitter.com/V4kJAPDAlk

Don't get too excited though; it's just a small demo with the first stage. Doing the full game would be way too much work

Yep it runs on super gameboy too pic.twitter.com/PQB7AimPO5

It's taken way longer than I expected to get the gameboy demo to this state, but it's been really fun to work on

I've spent a month of fulltime work on it now, not sure I can really justify that financially.

It's nice to be in a situation where I'm able to do things like that, even though I really oughtn't to...

Our Take
It's a weird, but charming side project, and one totally in line with the tone of the game. It feels like a classic Game Boy platformer to begin with.
