‘Plenty Of Chance’ Halo 5 Makes Its Way To PC Gamers

by Mike Futter on Oct 23, 2015 at 03:31 AM

Each fall there are a handful of titles that make many gamers wish they had just one more platform. This year, it could be Halo 5 or Rise of the Tomb Raider that might lead many to consider expanding their hardware collection.

For some PC diehards though, consoles are out of the question. What then is a first-person shooter fan to do when something like Halo 5: Guardians comes out? In this case, the best course of action might simply be to wait.

On a GamesRadar livestream of Halo 5 yesterday, Halo franchise development director Frank O’Connor fielded a question on the minds of many PC fans. While there’s no guarantee, the prospects of Halo 5 coming to Windows 10 seem good.

“Microsoft has made a huge commitment to normalize the Windows experience across multiple platforms,” O’Connor said at the 1 hour, 13 minute mark. “You’ve seen the elements of Windows 10 are going to appear on the Xbox, with Cortana and stuff like that. There is plenty of chance that Halo 5 could be on PC. Nothing to announce at this point, but it’s absolutely not outside the bounds of reason.”

You won’t be playing it on PC when it arrives on Xbox One this Tuesday, October 27. But there’s a solid chance you could be in the future.

Our Take
Microsoft has promised a deeper investment in PC gaming, and Halo 5 on Windows 10 makes sense for the company. It also gets more people signed into Xbox Live, which as we learned yesterday, is the division’s new metric for success.
