Microsoft Now Shipping Windows 10 Xbox Wireless Adapter

by Mike Futter on Oct 20, 2015 at 07:35 AM

Microsoft has announced that its wireless controller solution for Windows 10 has started shipping today. If you’ve been tethered with a micro-USB cable, the Xbox Wireless Adapter will allow you to use your Xbox One controller without a cord.

The $24.99 adapter (which also comes with a USB extender cable) works with both PC games and games streamed from Xbox One consoles. A single adapter supports eight controllers and up to four audio channels (either four chat headsets or two stereo headsets).

The peripheral supports Xbox One controllers, but not Xbox 360 devices. You can purchase it by itself or, if you are in need of an Xbox One controller, in a $79.95 bundle.

Our Take
Ever since I’ve been able to, I’ve used an Xbox One controller for PC gaming. The price seems reasonable for wireless support, especially since it supports multiple controllers and offers chat and audio.
