Nintendo Bundles Up Kid-Friendly 2DS With Yo-Kai Watch

by Mike Futter on Oct 19, 2015 at 02:53 AM

Nintendo has announced a new handheld bundle for this fall. This time out, the budget-priced and kid-friendly 2DS is getting a new edition.

You can currently purchase the 2DS with a digital copy of Mario Kart 7. Come November 6, you’ll also have the option to purchase it with Yo-Kai Watch pre-installed.

Yo-Kai Watch finally makes its way stateside this fall, after a number of years of success in Japan. The series has sold more than 8 million copies there.

There’s no special decoration on this handheld, but the price remains fixed at $99.99. For those that already have a handheld in the 3DS family, a Yo-Kai Watch demo hits the eShop on Thursday, October 22.

If it's a New 3DS you're in the market for, Nintendo's first stateside release for the smaller, upgraded handheld comes in an Animal Crossing Happy Home Designer package. If it's the New 3DS XL you have in your sights, a "Hyrule Edition" version is out this month. You can read more about both here.

Our Take
Nintendo has announced a couple of bundles for this fall, but isn’t being as aggressive as its competitors. The opportunity is ripe to rebundle Smash with a couple of hard to find Amiibos, for instance (perhaps in unique deco).
