Fallout Shelter Gets Beefy Update, Including Cloud Support

by Mike Futter on Oct 15, 2015 at 09:00 AM

It’s been four months since Bethesda unleashed Fallout Shelter onto your iDevices. Since then, Android players have entered the fray, and your dwellers have been mercilessly sacrificed in the name of scavenging the wasteland.

If you’ve left your vault unattended for a while, a new patch might get you to check in on it. Don’t worry. We’re sure your dwellers are just fine. Really.

One of the biggest changes is the implementation of cloud support. Now you can upload your Vault to the cloud and continue playing on other devices. There’s also a new survival difficulty, which increases the difficulty.

On the App Store, you’ll be able to get a new legendary dweller, Piper (from the upcoming Fallout 4). You’ll also get five free lunchboxes.

There’s also a hint that the Mysterious Stranger might be lurking about. Finding him will get you a bottle cap bonus. And for those of you still in need of gear, Raiders will now be lootable.

You can download Fallout Shelter now for iOS and Android. Fallout 4 will be out on November 10 for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.

Our Take
I’m curious to see if Bethesda further integrates Fallout Shelter with Fallout 4. There’s opportunity for dwellers you send to the wasteland to also bring back crafting materials for Fallout 4, though further suspension of disbelief would obviously be required. I’m sure your robot butler can assist with that.
