Purchasing All Of Destiny’s 18 Emotes Will Cost You About $35

Today, Bungie introduced a cosmetic microtransaction system to Destiny. As we detailed earlier, you can purchase 18 different emotes from Tess Everis in the Tower. What we weren’t able to tell you before is how much each costs.

You’ll get 400 silver just by playing today. If you purchased the Digital Collector’s Edition after E3, already owned Destiny and the expansions, and did so before the upgrade package ($20) was announced, you’ll have an extra 2,000 silver in your account.

Silver is purchasable from the PlayStation and Xbox stores. Prices are as follows:

  • 500 Silver - $4.99
  • 1,100 Silver - $9.99
  • 2,300 Silver - $19.99

Essentially, purchasing in larger increments gets you a bonus. If you’ve ever played a free-to-play game, you’ll recognize this approach.

If you receive the base amount of free silver, you’ll be able to purchase two rare emotes at 200 silver each. Sadly, you will not have enough for the Slow Clap or Enthusiastic (The Carlton) emote. Those cost 500 silver each.

For those that get the standard amount of silver, your least expensive path to purchase all of these will cost you $35. For the 3,800 silver you need, the least expensive option includes one of each bundle, leaving you only 100 remaining. However, for just $5 more, you can leave yourself with 800 to spend on the inevitable cosmetic items that will be released later.
