More Than 9 Million Played The Star Wars Battlefront Beta

by Mike Futter on Oct 13, 2015 at 05:11 AM

With the Star Wars Battlefront beta wrapping up this morning, EA and DICE are putting some numbers to the weekend’s activities. Across the three platforms (Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC), more than 9 million players played Drop Zone, Walker Assault, and Survival modes.

With so much hype around Episode VII: The Force Awakens, it’s no surprise that this was EA’s largest beta. Unfortunately, we don’t know the spread across platforms or if it ousted Call of Duty: Black Ops III as the largest beta in the PS4’s two-year history.

For more, check out our impressions of the Star Wars Battlefront beta. You’ll be able to visit Hoth, Tatooine, Endor, and Sullust on November 17.

Our Take
There is little doubt in my mind that Star Wars Battlefront will print money for EA. It’s an extremely accessible shooter that looks gorgeous and captures the feel of the original trilogy. It might not be the most complex shooter on the market (especially in the disappointing Fighter Squadron mode), but the timing is perfect for huge sales.
